secretaria.dir@imibic.orgDr. Pérez Martínez is Professor of Medicine at the University of Córdoba and specialist in Internal Medicine at the Reina Sofía University Hospital in Córdoba. His current work is focused on developing the clinical practice of his specialty, the teaching corresponding to his position as associate professor, and his research activity as researcher in charge of the “Nutrition and Disease” Research Group (CTS 212) of the Andalusian Plan for Research, Development and Innovation (PAIDI), and co-responsible researcher of the GC 09 research group “Nutrigenomics. Metabolic Syndrome”, belonging to the Maimonides Institute of Biomedical Research of Cordoba (IMIBIC), researcher of the CIBEROBN, and his management work. The latter includes his responsibility as Coordinator of the PhD Program in Biomedicine at the University of Cordoba; Coordinator of the Nutrition and Lifestyle Group of the Spanish Society of Arteriosclerosis; and Head of Research of the Spanish Society of Internal Medicine.
He is currently Principal Investigator of the Project “Educational strategy on a vulnerable population to improve cardiovascular health and mitigate food insecurity through a sustainable health literacy program”, funded by the Instituto de Salud Carlos III, linking 4 consecutive FIS projects. It also highlights its collaboration in several projects funded by the European Union, highlighting the POWER2DM H2020. His involvement in the training of new researchers includes the direction of 12 doctoral theses and his work coordinating all the research of the UGC Internal Medicine, with more than 200 people, collaborating in the formation of a Rio Hortega, PFIS, Sara Borrell, Miguel Servet and Nicolás Monardes. His scientific activity has been oriented to the study of clinical nutrigenomics, investigating the gene-environment interaction, including the intestinal microbiome and the somatic genome, in the biomodulation of cardiovascular disease and diabetes. Among the most interesting results of transfer to the productive sector, he has participated in the development of 7 patents and one spin-off.
He has participated in different committees of diverse nature such as the direction of the Biomedicine Doctorate Program, has been Vocal and Treasurer of the Spanish Society of Arteriosclerosis, Secretary of the Andalusian Society of Internal Medicine, collaborator of the Biomedicine area of the Coordination Division, Evaluation and Technical Scientific Follow-up of the State Research Agency, evaluator of the ANEP and the Ramón y Cajal and Juan de la Cierva commission of the area of Clinical Medicine and Epidemiology of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, Secretary of the Department of Medicine of the University of Córdoba, etc.

secretaria.dir@imibic.orgAlvaro Granados del Rio is General Manager of the Maimonides Biomedical Research Institute of Cordoba (IMIBIC). He obtained a degree in Business Management and Administration in 2005 from ETEA-Faculty of Economic and Business Science of the University of Cordoba. He has later specialised in financial management through different training programmes, and in management of health institutions through the Programme for Senior Management of Healthcare Institutions of the IESE’s Business School in Madrid. His professional career started in the financial audits sector at the multinational company of profesional services Deloitte, and he has extensive experience as financial and resources manager in different institutions in the area of scientific research and biomedicine. In 2011, he joined the Financial and Human Resources Management Area of IMIBIC, a position that allowed him to contribute directly to the growth experienced by the institute, as well as to participate in the work group that obtained the re-accreditation as Health Research Institute offered by the National Institute of Health Carlos III. He is also member of different work groups of the Research Management Foundations Network of the Andalusian Public Health System (RFGI-SSPA). He also contributes to the work group for the follow-up of the RDI strategy of the Regional Ministry of Health and Families of the Junta de Andalucia, and to the work group for the follow-up of the institutional agreement for the functioning of the Reina Sofia University Hospital of Cordoba. In addition, he has given lectures on financial auditing, R&D management, and public institutions administration at different universities and business schools. Since June 2018, he is General Manager of IMIBIC, participating in the institute’s strategic planning, as well as in the management of its research and innovation activities.
