The group GE07 Visual Quality is an emerging research group focused on biomedical engineering and advanced therapies in ophthalmology and reconstructive surgery. Our team aspires to develop new diagnostic and therapeutic strategies to improve health and welfare of our patients using novel bioengineering approaches. Our expertise includes tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, biomaterials, bioadhesives, nanoparticles, drug delivery systems, prosthesis, and diagnostic tools, among others, having always the emphasis on a successful translation to the patient. This requires a very multidisciplinary team composed of biologists, chemists, engineers and clinicians. The team is lead by Miguel González-Andrades, MD, PhD, a clinician-scientist currently working as an ophthalmologist in the Reina Sofia University Hospital, as senior scientist at the Maimonides Biomedical Research Institute of Córdoba (IMIBIC), and as adjunct scientist at the Schepens Eye Research Institute and Mass Eye and Ear Infirmary (SERI-MEEI), Harvard Medical School (Boston, USA). In recognition of the laboratory’s achievements and contributions to the field, Dr González-Andrades and his team have been awarded multiple accolades.
